Our product is available in two handle designs, one with two short handles and another one with one short and one long, curved handle.

Q: How do I store the paniyaram pan when not in use?

A: Keep the paniyaram pan in a cool and dry place. It should be bone dry and away from food as the moisture from food can degrade the seasoning and rust the pan. Wrap up the pan in paper towels and keep it away in a cardboard box.

Q: Can I put a glass lid over the pan when cooking paniyaram/appam?
A: Yes, you can use any kind of heat safe lid while cooking food using a paniyaram pan. You can also purchase a glass lid from our shop online.

Q: How to take care of a cast iron paniyaram?
A: Iron rots when in contact with oxygen, so when you let cast iron utensils sit in water for too long, they start rotting. To clean a cast iron utensil, cool it down until it’s safe to handle. Use a soft sponge and regular dishwashing liquid and gently scrub the surface in a circular motion. 

Wash with room temperature water and dry off using soft cotton or microfibre cloth. Once it is completely dry, take half teaspoon of vegetable oil and rub it into the surface using a tissue paper in a circular motion.

Q: What is a seasoning?
A: Seasoning is the process of baking oil into a cast iron utensil to create a layer of carbonised oil, which gives it a natural non-stick finish. At Satvik, we only use non-GMO, natural oil to season our range of cast iron products.
